Thanks for this Web sight.Always have been interested in the 353Rd FG with the 350th FS my main interest.
Do you have anything on Lt.Swift Benjamin?
    Thank you

    • Thanks for your comments Rick. I do have some info on Lt. Benjamin but you’ll need to wait for me to get to him in the sequence as I can’t respond to individual research requests due to time constraints. Don’t worry – I’ll get there, even though the day job is keeping me pretty busy at the moment. All the best

  2. Thank you for this!

LtCol Kenneth W. Gallup, Sr., is my father’s 2nd cousin. Not until today did I learn that he was a fighter ace & commander of this distinguished squadron. I’m honored by his service & this unit, And humbled…

    May God bless them all!

    Dean Chapman, Maj USMCR

  3. Paul McLocklin

This is an excellent web site for the 353rd .Many thanks.Forgive my ignorance but what do the letters S65,S58 ,S38 etc stand for when noted behind the pilots name

    • Thanks for your comments Paul. My fault for not adding a key to the data – S65, S58 etc refers to the individual pilot callsign S is for Seldom. Prior to the change in callsigns the Squadron used Pipeful so P19, for example, identified Glenn Duncan

      • Paul McLocklin

Many thanks for the clarification, makes sense now. I am doing some research on Lt Eugene B Dugar I know he only joined the group towards the end of the war and did a couple of missions .There was a tragic incident at Raydon when a ground crew member was killed .Do you have any information on either Dugar or the victim of the incident was.
        Thanks Paul

      • Cpl John E. Paulding was killed when he was struck on the head by the wing of Dugar’s taxiing aircraft June 30, 1945. Details/account p623-4 of Jonah’s Feet Are Dry. The aircraft accident report available from various online suppliers will also give you a lot of detail.

My father was a member of this squadron and I was wondering if you have any information on him? Lt. William R. Hubbell

  5. Hello, I came upon this great website through a google search. My grandfather was George Seyfer. It’s been neat looking through pictures and reading a few stories on this site. My dad (one of George’s sons) and mom visited the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum last year and enjoyed learning more history. Thank you for compiling this information!
